There is no changing what was.
No rewriting the chapters already lived.
There is only accepting what is and choosing, with intention, who we are becoming.
This year is not about erasing the past or rushing toward some perfected future version of myself.
It’s about growth that is honest.
Faith that is practiced.
Perspective that is chosen again and again.
Life has never been one thing.
It is hard and hopeful.
Tragic and beautiful.
Chaotic and peaceful.
Awful and amazing.
Simple and complex.
Heavy and weightless.
Burdened and free.
Both things can be true at once.
I think for a long time I told myself a story about my life... that it was mostly tragic, with a few beautiful chapters scattered in between. But the truth is far more generous than that.
I’ve lived a beautiful life,
one that includes devastating chapters.
Chapters that drove me to God when I had nowhere else to turn.
Chapters that forced change I never would have chosen.
Chapters that reshaped my future and my very being.
Chapters that widened my perspective and softened my heart toward other people’s pain.
Chapters that shook everything loose and made space for something new.
Those chapters didn’t ruin my story.
They formed it.
Perspective is everything.
What you choose to focus on becomes the lens through which you experience your life. And for me, worry comes easily. Anticipating struggle feels natural. Bracing for impact feels familiar.
Faith, that takes work.
Believing good things are possible, that takes intention.
Trusting God with what I cannot control, that takes surrender.
But it’s work I want to do.
Because our thoughts quietly shape our reality.
Your thoughts become your truth, so be gentle and intentional with what you allow to take root in your mind. The stories you tell yourself matter more than you realize.
The heart is a remarkable thing,
fragile, yet resilient.
Capable of breaking and healing more times than we ever imagined.
Able to carry grief and hope at the same time.
And sometimes, all it takes to change a life is one person who believes in you.
Sometimes… that person has to be you.
This year, I’m choosing to believe... not blindly, not naïvely... but faithfully.
To see life clearly without losing hope.
To stay rooted in truth without becoming hardened.
To grow deeper in faith, not just in words, but in how I live, love, forgive, and let go.
The year of becoming isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about becoming more fully who I’ve always been,
stripped of fear, anchored in faith, and aligned with what matters most.
Becoming braver.
Becoming softer.
Becoming wiser.
Becoming more trusting of God’s timing and less demanding of my own.
This is the year I stop measuring my life by its hardest moments and start honoring the beauty that has always been there, even when it was hard to see.
This is the year of becoming.
And I’m stepping into it with open hands, a steady heart, and faith that the best chapters are still unfolding.
